Global Water Lifeline (GWL) is a humanitarian nonprofit organization committed to expanding sustainable access to clean drinking water in underserved rural communities across Africa and South America. We believe that clean water is not a privilege; it is a fundamental human right that directly influences health outcomes, educational opportunities, personal dignity, and long-term economic stability.
Founded by Emmanuel Pohla, GWL was established in response to the urgent global water crisis affecting billions of people who still lack reliable access to safe drinking water. What began as a mission to address water inequality has grown into a structured, impact-driven organization focused on delivering practical, community-centered, and sustainable solutions that people can rely on for generations.
We design and implement water systems that are built to last, supported by local training, technical planning, and community ownership. By combining engineering expertise with grassroots engagement, GWL ensures that every project creates measurable improvements in public health, resilience, and quality of life.
At Global Water Lifeline (GWL), our purpose extends beyond infrastructure; it is about transforming the conditions that hold communities back and replacing them with systems that create opportunity, dignity, and long-term stability. Every well drilled, every system installed, and every community trained represents a step toward a future where clean water is consistently available and locally sustained.
We recognize that water access is deeply connected to health, education, gender equality, and economic development. For this reason, our work is designed to address both immediate water scarcity and the long-term systems required to maintain reliable access for generations.
We believe every individual deserves access to clean, safe water without hardship or compromise. Dignity is at the heart of every project we deliver.
Every system we build is designed for long-term performance, incorporating solar energy, local training, and maintainable infrastructure.
We operate with accountability in funding, operations, and reporting to ensure trust with communities, partners, and donors.
We equip local communities with the knowledge, tools, and training needed to independently manage and sustain their water systems.
We use solar-powered pumps to provide reliable, off-grid access to clean water in rural communities.
We train community members to manage and maintain their water systems independently.
We build long-lasting systems and monitor them regularly to ensure consistent performance.
Before Global Water Lifeline came to our village, we had to walk hours every day just to collect unsafe water. Now, we have clean water right in our community, and our children are healthier and able to attend school regularly. This project has truly changed our lives in ways we never thought possible.
